THE BEST WAY TO CELEBRATE YOUR ENEMY

2 SAMUEL 1:12-10

Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David had returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had stayed two days in Ziklag, on the third day, behold, it happened that a man came from Saul’s camp with his clothes torn and dust on his head. So it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the ground and prostrated himself.
And David said to him, “Where have you come from?”
So he said to him, “I have escaped from the camp of Israel.”
Then David said to him, “How did the matter go? Please tell me.”
And he answered, “The people have fled from the battle, many of the people are fallen and dead, and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.”
So David said to the young man who told him, “How do you know that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?”
Then the young man who told him said, “As I happened by chance to be on Mount Gilboa, there was Saul, leaning on his spear; and indeed the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him. Now when he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me. And I answered, ‘Here I am.’ And he said to me, ‘Who are you?’ So I answered him, ‘I am an Amalekite.’ He said to me again, ‘Please stand over me and kill me, for anguish has come upon me, but my life still remains in me.’ 10 So I stood over him and killed him, because I was sure that he could not live after he had fallen. And I took the crown that was on his head and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them here to my lord.”
11 Therefore David took hold of his own clothes and tore them, and so did all the men who were with him. 12 And they mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and for Jonathan his son, for the people of the Lord and for the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.
13 Then David said to the young man who told him, “Where are you from?”
And he answered, “I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite.”
14 So David said to him, “How was it you were not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?” 15 Then David called one of the young men and said, “Go near, and execute him!” And he struck him so that he died. 16 So David said to him, “Your blood is on your own head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying, ‘I have killed the Lord’s anointed.’”

The Song of the Bow

17 Then David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son, 18 and he told them to teach the children of Judah the Song of the Bow; indeed it is written in the Book of Jasher:

WHO IS AN ENEMY?

1.a person who feels hatred for, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against another; an adversary or opponent.
2.an armed foe; an opposing military force:

The army attacked the enemy at dawn.
3.a hostile nation or state.
4.a citizen of such a state.
5.enemies, persons, nations, etc., that are hostile to one another:

Let's make up and stop being enemies.
6.something harmful or prejudicial:

His unbridled ambition is his worst enemy.
7.the Enemy, the Devil; Satan.
David is the leader we are taking queue from how to best celebrate when your enemy as it were is having challenges himself.
David takes on a completely different view. Here there is a man who gave David sleepless nights day in day out. When David gets 411 about his death instead of acting like normal human being, he comes out strongly and proves to us that he is the man God was won by his heart. As expected, you and I could have set on a celebration and commanded all business to stop because REST has been found. But David does not only amaze me, he humbles my heart on how best to deal with an enemy.
Let us learn how he handled this complex situation.
1. David felt remorseful, sorrowful and also wept bitterly 1Samuel1:11-12
David starts by inquiring  how it all happened. The young man wowed with the zeal of Killing the King, pours out his heart and explains how evil and ill intended his heart was. All the while David is listening and wondering whether there are people who fear the anointed of God. In fact he is struggling to bring himself to understanding the immense opportunities he had to deal with his enemy. How are you dealing with your enemy? Do you consider that they are also human beings just as you are? How comes we kill our "neighbor" daily in our hearts? consider the deep insight of this great man of God, David. Indeed this qualifies him to be the predecessor of our lord Jesus Christ.

2.David denied himself the pleasures of life, i.e. food, love, food and clothing.
The bible says how he went ahead in sorry and pain tearing down his clothes and thereby entering into a fasting session to mourn the anointed of God. I can see you are saying this was a big joke. But David new that the soul of man has no price tag and no man qualifies to celebrate the death of his enemy. How ready are you to tear down your heart, humble yourself and pray for your enemy? Many at times it is our privilege to rend out the adage " let him feel it" David was unique in that he took on a different direction. My friend can you consider this contrast and take it upon yourself to start living differently.

3.David never celebrate as many of us would.
Count the number of times when you have rejoiced over the problems and troubles your enemies are going through. Not so with David, he was a man after GOD'S OWN HEART. People of such caliber have a different kind of spirit. They do no behave like ordinary people. They have a unique spirit. They first of all connect with heaven before they unleash their feeling. Beloved of God, this is prime time to bow down and be remorseful to our creator for the many times we have not been our brother's keeper. Take after David and the future will be different. You will not struggle sharing your testimony because your life will become real sacrifice leading to a leading testimony.

4.David turned to the wickedness of the young man and gave him a dress down address.
Sin has to be called its name. Time to condone sin, look the other way and pretend that you have seen nothing or heard nothing are long overdue. Like David, tonight I speak to you in the mighty name of Jesus. Come out from your hiding place and be sure your sin will find you. You can hide and run but you cannot out do the living God. He is the Alpha and Omega, the All Seeing God.The arms of Jesus are wide open waiting for some one who is tired of his present state of sin. Come to Jesus right now. It is time we learnt from the man from the very presence of God. Beloved, remember the lord is looking in our hearts and not house muscular you look like or how innocent you present yourself to the world.Yes you have been celebrating the worst for your enemy, the lord on the other hand is not happy about this situation. He has waited all this long before coming back because he desires that no one should get lost.Tonight allow the spirit of God to give you a dressing down for with him he cares. he offers an open window that says "come all you that are heavily laden and I will give you rest". Rest is not found when your neighbour dies. No! It all emanates from falling at the feet of Jesus for this is the most exalted place. Cast of the fear and shame and do the right thing. Come to Jesus.

As the young man celebrated and thought this to be his moment of breakthrough, David had other ideas all together. And he went ahead to counsel him, "Why were you not afraid to destroy the anointed of God"? Verse 14. As David is reminiscing over this situation, deep in his heart he remembers the opportunities he had to do the same, but he choose to consult heaven first. 1Samuel 24:1-21 and 1Samuel 26:5-20.
child of God, what is the motivation of what you are agitating for?

Do not take advantage of the weakness of the men of God to manipulate them lest they be fallen by your enemy tricks. Instead, encourage them, advice them, hold their hands and help them cross the bridges ahead of them because they may not do it alone.Offer them a shoulder to lean on when they are hurt and cover them from the shame of the multitudes as they shed tears away from those who are their followers. Do not go the extreme for as David killed this young man soon you will find yourself in this predicament. David gave the young man time and opportunity to amend his statement but instead he was basking in the miasma of his simplistic exploits. This prompted David to do away with the enemy of the people. You may think your hatred for people is doing you good, yet it is killing you slowly. Beware of your tongue, take care of your sheep read mouth, they are bound to cook you up.

David says in 2Samuel 1:16  So David said to him, “Your blood is on your own head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying, ‘I have killed the Lord’s anointed.’
Many at times we betray ourselves and when the heat is turned our way we whine of how our enemy are behind our problems.Kindly as a servant of God, watch the contents that proceed forth from your mouth. The bible declares in Mathew 12:33-35 "33"Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. 34"You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak what is good? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. 35"The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil.…
Looking for real friends, check what you belch out.

The good book warns us to be on the watch out that while we are standing lest we fall. Do not be in a rash to spill out the contents of your mouth. Analyze them, synthesize them and if possible purify them before you speak. Allow the Spirit of God to train you first in all TRUTH before you speak.Only allow your feet to do what Ephesians 6:15  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Your integrity really matters. Kings 9:4-5 And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my rules, then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’ (The LORD speaking to Solomon)

Psalm 41:11-13 By this I know that you delight in me: my enemy will not shout in triumph over me. But you have upheld me because of my integrity, and set me in your presence forever. Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! Amen and Amen.

Proverbs 2:6-8 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.

How you react will prove your leadership. Beware, you are under watch. Shine for the glory of God is come. Celebrate your enemies by blessing them and not the contrary.David gives us the best example in 2Samuel 2:4-7

Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, “The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who buried Saul.” So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, “You are blessed of the Lord, for you have shown this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him. And now may the Lord show kindness and truth to you. I also will repay you this kindness, because you have done this thing. Now therefore, let your hands be strengthened, and be valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”

The best gift ever to an enemy is to be a blessing. Bless and bless! Jesus said

Matthew 5:43-48

Love Your Enemies

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,[b] 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren[c] only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors[d] do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Love in itself cover a multitude of sins. Use love to befriend them that you have considered to be enemies.
Stop thriving in an environment full of animosity. You are a human being created by a loving God to relate. Remember to keep the following brainy quotes at the back of your mind always

Receive it,Believe it, Act it and Live it Amen!

The lord's blessing reign supreme in your life, AMEN!
